ART OF COLLAGE

ART OF COLLAGE
Collage is pasting bits of paper, cloth onto a flat surface to make a pictorial expression or pattern. Collage is a French word that means ‘pasting’ or ‘gluing’. In art terms it refers to the practice of attaching objects, such as bits of paper or cloth, to the surface of a canvas or other support.

MATERIALS FOR COLLAGE
1- Glue
2- Old calenders, magazines, or fabric
3- Scissors, Knife Razor blade etc
4- Broom
5- board, cardboard straw board, canvas etc.

PROCESS
STEP 1- To create collage, you need to make drawing first on a suitable surface of choice like board, cardboard straw board, canvas etc.
STEP 2- Then, several tones of different colours were cut from old calendars into tiny pieces. STEP 3- The drawing is covered with glue.
STEP 4- broomstick is dipped in glue before used to pick each tone of colour, placing each pieces together side by side until it assumed the entire working space.
STEP 5: The finished work could be placed on the wall as a mural.

Conclusively, collage is cheap to practice by students but it usually requires painstaking attempt and much patience.
